SBB Zürich – renovation south wing

The south wing was built by Jakob Friedrich Wanner in the neo-Renaissance style as the main reception building for Zurich station and completed in 1871. Since then, the station has undergone numerous organizational and structural changes and today houses primarily commercial offerings that are only marginally related to actual rail operations. The project aims to strengthen the perception of the south wing as a historic and representative centerpiece of the main station by highlighting its qualities, which today – due to the pragmatism of past adaptations of use and the great commercial pressure – are partially hidden.
