Fair Basel – masterpiece by Herzog de Meuron

The building designed by the architecs Herzog & de Meuron, which opened in 2013, combines functionality and aesthetics in an almost perfect way. The upper part of the building consists of two superimposed hall bodies that project out into the street space to different extents.
Fascinated, visitors look through a circular opening in the middle of the ”City Lounge”, which penetrates both upper floors.

Inner layer made of an insulated standardized metal cassettes.
The exterior façade was made of aluminum lamellas manufactured specifically for the project.
Due to the variable building geometry and the different openings of the lamellas, a highly challenging puzzle with 14’000 different lamellas geometries was created in our enginneering and production.
