SBB Zürich – renovation south wing

The south wing was built by Jakob Friedrich Wanner in the neo-Renaissance style as the main reception building for Zurich station and completed in 1871. Since then, the station has undergone numerous organizational and structural changes and today houses primarily commercial offerings that are only marginally related to actual rail operations. The project aims to strengthen the perception of the south wing as a historic and representative centerpiece of the main station by highlighting its qualities, which today – due to the pragmatism of past adaptations of use and the great commercial pressure – are partially hidden. Project
In the scope of work is the design, manufacture and installation of the roof edge with gratings on the roof edge construction level 30; PR facade with shading and doors in the atrium; about 30 meters gutter construction walkable with grating cover; 2 pieces floor glazing walkable in fire protection EI60 level 30; 2 pieces door EI60 level 20; 2 pieces stair elements level 20; 2 pieces glass skylights level 20; 5 pieces small glass skylights level 10.
Two large skylights are made with special design glass. These glazings require intensive clarifications between the architect, Rytz AG and our glass suppliers with regard to the design and their feasibility.
